Quick Lenten Question

Do you observe Lent? Do you go traditional and give up meat (and sometimes dairy) or do you give up a different food vice? Do you concentrate on something non-food?

Ash Wednesday (and therefore Lent) is this week. I'd love to hear if you're giving something up!

Cheers,
Lizzie

We do lent here, but don't really give up food. But things like a favorite tv show, and spend that time in prayer or at least thinking about what Jesus did for us. I sometimes do give up things like soda or sweets and spend time every time I want those things thinking about what he did for me.

Hubby & I celebrate the season of lent, even though our church (United Methodist) doesn't mark it by specific acts of sacrifice. We each usually choose something to give up individually (this year, I am trying to spend less time on my computer, especially during the day & hubby is dieting). We also do not eat meat on Fridays - I was raised Catholic & he was raised Episcopalian, so we just kept with our childhood traditions on this one; we think the sacrifice is good for us. Finally, we jointly have decided to not eat past 8PM all throughout lent, unless it is an actual meal (meaning, we get home at 8 and realize we haven't eaten dinner yet). We've done this since we've been dating back in the day! :)
